Hi programmers,

in Ardour forum I was suggested AV Linux...

My problem is: I am wriiting a book (in german language) for children from 8 yrs of age, tp understand sound recording studios and software. Now I am looking for an easy to use system, maybe with ardour, or better a MIDI/Audio sequenzer that would run on every system !!!!??? Like a live DVD/CD. Since I've been using Logic on Mac and dont want to suggest Cubase, I ve been looking for another way. The Idea is: to put in the book a live cd/DVD so they could start on daddies PC or Mac or whatever and don't harm the machine. Every reader has the same software and I can show in the book how to work with...For Linux that would be an ad and even some Donations should arise!! As I hope....

When anyone can help...I am looking forward to read from you...Thanx yours ficheland

Hi

What you are proposing sounds like a great idea, and certainly Linux would be a way to achieve your goal. To be clear AV Linux is English only and has a LOT of different software to learn so for children in a non-English locale it may not be the best idea, although I'd love to see more Linux used in education everywhere in the world.

I might suggest Ubuntu or openSUSE or any of the large organized Linux distributions with localized language support would be a good place to start so everything would be in German. Most of the main Audio and Video programs would be available in most large distros.

Thanks for contacting me I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your idea!
