Hi,

For system-wide fonts than copy the fonts as root to /usr/share/fonts/ and then in the Root Terminal rebuild the font cache with this command:
Code:
fc-cache -f -v

Hi, i just tried to do this, but cant as it need to do it as root.

my usual os is cruchbang, where i can open as root from the menu. There dosnt seem to be an option for this. I also tried nautilus etc, opening a window as root from the terminal, but cant get anywhere.

Can someone please help me, I need to install two ttf fonts from google, i have downloaded them but just cant move them over or install them at all :S

There is a Root Terminal in the menu under 'accessories'.  Alternately, you can also open a regular terminal and enter 'su', then your password to become root.  Yet another option is to use Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or F2 thru F6) to access a tty and log in as root from there.

(Note:  the root terminal and other applications that need root (such as synaptic) use gksu.  This does not work on some systems due to issues with xhost permissions (usually it works fine but not always).  If this is the problem you are having, you can fix it following these instructions:

Hi, thanks for the info

I usually move files in the GUI - and usually can open an actual window of my file manager as root. I used to do this using the command nautilus, have recently got used to doing it with out command line at all.

Is there a way to move files as root using a drag and drop GUI method?

You can try Krusader. Its a two panel file manager (like Norton Commander), very powerful and has a root mode too. Very handy for file management. Version 2.2.0-beta1 "DeKade" works very well and can be installed on AV Linux without further downloads since all dependencies are satisfied. To use the root mode you have to change the settings in the dependencies dialog (Settings/Configure Krusader) like this:

kdesu: /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu

This will give you all the power you'll need to install some fonts...  Grin

Hi,

Read the AV Linux manual section on PCManFM file manager, if you look there is an option in the 'Tools' menu to 'Open current folder as Root'. Then you simply drag and drop or copy and paste as normal except with Root privileges.
