Hi,

Dave Phillips the venerable and esteemed journalist of all things Linux Audio has done a review of AV Linux in Linux Journal. I am quite happy and grateful to Dave for taking the time and effort to try, install and review AV Linux 5.0.1 despite some uncommon hardware related issues plaguing the process. Read it here:

Greetings,

A quick note to recognize that more than 20,000 reads have been counted for the article (in English, I don't have the figures for other languages). I like to think that at least a few of those folks will try AVL, and I also hope that some regular users will be inspired to pony up some $$ to keep this excellent Linux distribution on the move.

Best,

dp

Hi,

Thanks for the update, I submitted the review to Distrowatch in hopes that they will include it on the AV Linux information page. Thanks again!

Hi all,

Felicitation for this great release at Glen and all this team.   Yahoo

I 've spread the news on the French Community ( particularly here : http://linuxevolution.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/sortie-de-av-linux-5-0-2/Wizard

I'd like to know :
What is the number of the version of XCFA ?
Does EnKodeur-Mixeur (aka EKD http://ekd.tuxfamily.org/index.php/Accueil/AccueilEnglish) installed ?

Thanks for all the huge work for doing this release.  Howdy

Olivier.

You can check what software is installed with synaptic or on the command line like this:

$ dpkg -l | grep xcfa
ii  xcfa                                                           4.2.4                              X Convert File Audio

As you see xcfa is version 4.2.4 in AVLinux 5.02.   AVLinux does not have ekd but I see there are debian packages available for it:
http://ekd.tuxfamily.org/index.php/Acceuil/TelechargementEnglish   It is likely this would work in AVLinux which is built from Debian Squeeze.

Thanks a lot varpa for the quick answer.  Wink

I asked because he was in download and like I have not a great (and fast) connection, it was better to ask.  Grin

You're right, EnKodeur-Mixeur works great on my AV Linux 5.0. We have spoken about those with Glen there are a moment and when I 've seen than xcfa was installed by default, I 've just know a bit more about the second.
