Hi, thanks for continuing remastersys. I successfully built an .iso but the installer isn't working. It gets to the point where I select a disk to partition, when i select one, it says xterm: Can't execvp cfdisk: No such file or directory
I haven't had this problem before. Thanks!
I don't understand why it's trying to use cfdisk. Gparted and cfdisk are both installed.

Are you running the gui installer or the text based one?
As root or with sudo you need to run:
remastersys-installer gui
Without the gui on the end it uses the text based one that uses cfdisk. Can you copy the exact message you are getting and post it?

I am running the gui installer. I have a fully updated debian testing. The installer works on my installed system, but not in the live. In the live, for some reason, which gparted yields nothing rather than the location of gparted. I think this is causing the problem. The error message is as in my original post. Thanks.

You are using testing - that is the problem. Many things seem to be broken at different times when using testing. I just can't keep up with the changes. What might help us figure out why is to run gparted from the command line while live and see exactly what is going on. Report any messages here and I'll try to help as much as I can.

Hi,
@mdmarmer
To my knowledge the Debian Live scripts in Wheezy have definitely broken compatibility with Remastersys for Squeeze unless you have pinned or held the Remastersys related dependencies from Squeeze. Also are you sure that your default shell is 'bash'? Debian moved to 'dash' as the default shell in Squeeze and unless I miss my guess fragadelic's scripts all require bash to work properly. That is a wild guess but may be worth checking out...

I checked and i have bash as default shell & gparted runs ok from command line in the live. i do have packages pinned so the .iso builds and correctly, but this is a new provblem to me. I'll try editing the installer to simplify it and maybe i can get it to work. Thanks!

The installer works only if I open a terminal and enter: sudo su remastersys-installer gui
It does not work from the desktop icon or from the menu.
I tried to write a script to put on the desktop to execute the installer but I haven't come up with one yet.

What desktop are you using? I've seen some in the past have issues with the .desktop link.
Do you have gksu installed?

Found a simple fix. Thanks again for help.
Changed the icon to sudo -i /usr/bin/remastersys-installer gui in place of gksudo /usr/bin/remastersys-installer gui
Don't know why gksudo is not working same as before gksu is installed using LXDE
