Is there anyway to make a dist auto login in live mode without the need to input a userrname?

I did find one possible solution at http://bikramkawan.com.np/solved-remastersys-auto-login-problem/ which is to modify /etc/init/tty1.conf with

exec /bin/login -f mydistrousername < /dev/tty1 > /dev/tty1 2>&1

This will stay even after install so it really isn't the intended thing to do.

There are issues with lightdm on both newer ubuntu and debian wheezy that intermittently cause this.

I recommend trying another login manager rather than this permanent cludgy fix you posted.

I believe part of the issue with lightdm is that it isn't fully able to set itself up during live boot and in fact isn't ready when everything else has booted up.

If the live user was created successfully, which in most cases it is, then simply entering the live user name here with a blank password will get you in.

Again, I'd suggest using a different login manager.

You also have to be very careful what changes you make to the login manager's config files as certain things will prevent the live boot from setting it up as well.
