What I' m missing at the moment are some programs for making panoramic and HDR images in AV Linux. Though AVL is a distro for Video and Audio editing, I find my self needing those programs for creating Images for VFX compositions many times.

Rawtherapee is a very powerful Raw processing software. It would fit into AV linux pretty well in my opinion.

Luminance HDR is a great tool for what the name says Wink

Hugin does a good job on stitching panoramic images.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look for future releases. Photo/Graphics is definitely a 'room to grow' part of AV Linux.

I have done some experiments today:
Unfortunately I have set up Gnome3 on my AV Linux install before i tried to install the programs today, so this info may not be accurate due to some system updates from Sid repository from the gnome installation:

The latest RawTherapee build for Ubuntu which is available from the RT homepage works fine after installing the liblcms2-2 from the Debian Sid repo.
Hugin is available in the Repo and works.
Luminance HDR was a bit tricky to get running. I used the .deb from their sourceforge page an had to compile libexiv2 by hand and then install the libraw and libtiff packages from their sf page to get it working.
But Libtiff conflicted with gimp-plugin-registry in some way so that i had to remove the gimp package. (no problem for me as I use to build gimp 2.7 snapshots on my system).

So the mor elegant way to install Luminance HDR would be to compile the newest libexiv2 and libraw by hand, maybe install libtiff4 (the pre built luminance package needs tiff3) from Sid repo and compile Luminance HDR by hand. I will try it out Wink

Hi

May i ask for an AVL build of Darktable which is a very, very fine piece of software.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/darktable/

Darktable is a virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers: it manages your digital negatives in a database and lets you view them through a zoomable light table. It also enables you to develop raw images and enhance them.
