@Gmaq

Is it possible to include JackMixer or anything else which can control volume on many out-channels - like 3/4out (for active monitors) because i already uses my 1/2out on send to 5/6in... Then in Mixbus i can monitoring on 3/4out, setting volume to zero and with JackMixer adjusting the fader to make my neighbor happy ;-).

I have an Edirol FA101 with 10 outchannels (8 analog + 2 digital)!

I'm glad to see that you collaborate with Falktx on some packages for the incoming Avlinux 5.0.3! Great!

Thanks a lot.

I might suggest trying Qtractor as a live mixer.   I've played around with this and it seems to work rather well - low CPU overhead and you can install plugins on the mixer channels if desired (and Qtractor handles all plugin formats).   You have to create new buses in Qtractor (View->Buses), one for each mixer channel (track) you want since Qtractor by default only defines a single master bus.   Then you have to route your inputs to the buses you've created (which feed tracks which are you are using only as pass-throughs to the mixer).  You activate sound in individual mixer tracks by the "monitor" button - in this application the solo and mute buttons do not work.   I've tried the same with Ardour, but CPU usage is too high (well I'm playing a midi keyboard so I want to keep the latency low - Ardour might be fine if you can run at high latency).   I really like being able to use plugins which are easily turned on and off in a mixer strip.   Most Jack mixers I've tried either to not support plugins or only ladspa.  You can get effects with standalone Jack applications but then you have to do more work setting up the session and its not easy to turn effect on and off because many Jack apps do not have a bypass switch.

If you want a simple mixer you might look at nonmixer.   There used to be an AVLinux deb for it, but I do not find it any more.  However, it is easy to build from source.

Thanks Varpa!

I was unable to launch qtractor! I don't know why!? other apps too! it is not the first time that any apps won't start. (AVlinux5.0.2)

Then because Avlinux5.0.3 is there, i decided to install it! Ok now i've got qtractor running... I tried it a little bit, but because of soloing busses (one mute the other) is apparently "not possible" it was too much to manipulate and monitor... Then Sad i tried with ardourvst (for possible vst) and i added some busses for routing direct all height mixbusses of Mixbus in one bus in ardourvst... and the other bus (in ardourvst) monitor what goes out of channel 5/6 and all that linked (out) to channel 3/4 as desired (because my active monitors are linked to 3/4)...

Ok many routing are available like this and it is possible for me to switch soloing tracks (option unlatched)..
Here are descriptions of Solo and co....: http://ardour.org/files/manual/sn-tracks-and-busses.html

It is very helpfull because you can compare two (or more) mix just with one click!

Maybe you're right for the processor consumption because i don't see how qtractor took but ardour (Mixbus here) took about around 5%!

Then I don't remember if JackMixer can afford the "unlatched soloing" but i think the power consumption is not so high isn't it?

Then i think of an extra-minimal ardour just for this kind of application Smile

If someone has can give me a way to try nonmixer (as package) it would make me pleasure to give you a feedback!

Thanks varpa for your tip!
