I'm well aware that AVL already has multiple video transcoding tools such as Avidemux and WinFF but, not only can I never seem to have enough of the darn things, AVL seems to currently lack a general purpose GUI for mencoder (the only real rival/alternative to ffmpeg that we have) and the best example of such an app that I know is available for Linux has to be Lincoder:

http://lincoder.sourceforge.net/

Any reason it didn't make it onto 5.0.3 GMaq because I'm sure you're aware of Lincoder's existence and its usefulness to us types?

Hi

Never heard of it, looks interesting but Java stuff is a little chubby for an already packed to the gunnels ISO...does it really do anything WinFF/ffmpeg can't?

GMan!

Yes, I must admit that I usually avoid Java apps like the plague so if anyone here knows of a similar app that uses Qt 4 (pref.) or GTK then I'd prefer that instead but I've not found one.

Lincoder does offer more encoding options that winff but even if it didn't it would still be a worthwhile inclusion as I've found mencoder works better (or actually works vs not) for certain codecs over ffmpeg which is obviously what winff uses to do its encoding and if any terminal-based Linux AV apps are screaming for a GUI its mencoder and ffmpeg.
