First - to whoever makes remastersys - you have an awesome product!  Please keep it up!

On to my problem - when doing the "backup" mode, I can't get remastersys to exclude the big folder I have (20+gb).

This is the syntax I entered:  /home/catregular/SHARED

That is the "base" folder containing 20+gb I wish to exclude.  I triple checked the spelling.  I tried all lowercase letters.  I tried foul language.

I always get some "Abort" notice because the size is too large for "genesoimage" (or something spelled like that).

What am I doing wrong?  The "exclude" use to work well in the past, though I used an earlier remastersys version (can't remember which).

Of course, the folder in question is excluded if I select the "dist" option.  My final image is only 1.1 gb.

However, I want the "backup" option.  Clearly something in /home is too big for it.  The stuff within /home I wish to include couldn't be more than 2.5 gb.  That puts the total at roughly 3.6 gb (high estimate) which is below the 4.0 gb limit.

It should fit but isn't.  I can only conclude the large 20+gb folder is getting in the way.

Any thoughts?

Whew - lol.  I haven't really made changes to the exclude part in a long time.  I simply added even more excludes of things like gvfs and such which do cause issues on the live.

Glad you got it figured out.

Oh and thanks for the nice compliment.  It is just me that created it and maintain it with a few submitted patches along the way.  The gui frontend was created by Krasimir Stefanov who was the original author of the remastersys-gtk frontend.
