Hello i remastered debian squeeze, but whenever I want to login as root (from live cd created by remastersys) all my password is not working.

My friend suggested to run pwck before remastering, It returns the following error.

Code:
user 'lp': directory '/var/spool/lpd' does not exist

user 'news': directory '/var/spool/news' does not exist

user 'uucp': directory '/var/spool/uucp' does not exist

user 'list': directory '/var/list' does not exist

user 'irc': directory '/var/run/ircd' does not exist

user 'gnats': directory '/var/lib/gnats' does not exist

user 'nobody': directory '/nonexistent' does not exist

user 'usbmux': directory '/home/usbmux' does not exist

user 'saned': directory '/home/saned' does not exist

pwck: no changes

please help. thank you

What commands are you using?  Are you trying to login in as root?  Or are you using sudo?

Root is not available on the livecd.  The debian live system acts just like Ubuntu in that it needs sudo, gksu, or kdesu to get root permissions.

If you used backup mode then you should be able to just like the original system.  The errors you are seeing from pwck are ok and not a real problem.

I'm suing Linux Mint Julia 10 now Live, which is Ubuntu based.  I did this:

Code:
sudo su

then,

changed root passwd:

Code:
passwd

Switched user with gdm.

Type root at prompt.  Entered password.  Went right in.

But maybe the Debian is different.  I tried it, but wasn't updating my passwords so I decided not to use it:

hello thanks everyone,
i have restart everything and got live cd booted.

another question:
how can I install this live cd to the system? (im using virtualbox)

when I clicked on the Debian Installer icon, it's just silent.
then i try to run debian-installer-launcher from command line (sudo)
it returns error like this:
Code:
no suitable d-i initrd image found, aborting

The debian installer doesn't work.  In the System menu you should see the Remastersys Installer and you should use that.
