Is it possible to play a bristol synth with a midi controller? There are no inputs in the jack midi patchbay.

Check the ALSA MIDI patchbay, maybe you can make the connections there.  If you need to connect a Jack MIDI device to an ALSA MIDI device, you'll need to run A2JMIDID (it's in the audio menu), and then you will see all your connections in the Jack MIDI patchbay.
