Here's my latest creation:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NovAeRvYLb4

The audio was recorded using LinuxDSP's remix of Ardour2.  Drums were programmed using GMaq's Pearl drum kit in Hydrogen.  The video was edited with kdenlive.

Enjoy!!

Very nice song and video!  First class production all-around.  Clean recording, good balance between instruments and vocals, nice guitar playing and overdubbing guitar lead and harmonies.  Song writing and arrangement are also well done.  Video is good, too.

Hi,

Rather than echo varpa, I'll just agree, great job all around! I like the hardhat for the guitar solos... watch out for falling debris!  Smile

Great work Trulan, I like it a lot. Is it a composition by yourself ?

Nice recording, good stereo image, really WELL done !

And don't forget to pay your main actor ;-) Mitchell is really cute, he must be the apple of your eyes.

Yours Prof Knaakenbroed

(Just for the records... I rode exactly the same walker, but that's a few days away from now.)

Thank you all for your kind words.  They are appreciated!  I had a lot of fun making the audio recording (and adding the video), and I'm happy if someone else can enjoy it too.

We do like our little Mitchell a whole bunch.  I'm glad I got this footage of him when I did (a few months ago), back when he was just learning to use the walker.  It's something I couldn't re-create now that he is a little older.

I started writing this song way back in 2000, shelved it for about 5 years, and finished the composition in 2005, when I recorded it for the first time.  I re-recorded it partly as an excuse to try out Hydrogen, and partly because I had some ideas for a video.  As with all the recordings I've made, there are things about it that still bug me but you eventually have to just call it good enough and release it.

I'm amazed at how many of my friends, after seeing this, ask what I used to do the video editing - I did use kdenlive, but it's just basic cutting and pasting with no video effects at all.  I like how kdenlive handles using a separate audio track (essential for making a video like this).  Also, this was the first time I used the DVGrab script, that works excellently.

For what it's worth, this video was completely made with AVLinux, all using programs that are installed by default:
Jack/ffado
Patchage
Ardour
Hydrogen
Calf Plugins
LinuxDSP Plugins
Lots of other miscellaneous plugins
Jamin
DVGrab
Kdenlive
Iceweasel (to upload the video to YouTube)
