Ive install wicd and it works fine but with network manager the back up option boots but theres
no network  when you click on the network icon its grayed out and says its disabled

Ive try to restart the network, reinstall it  etc etc but to no avail when right clicking it claims the network is enabled  but its not its telling me a dirty lie

Ive gone through the configs and system and tried different methods but to no succes

I want to use network manger instead of wicd

has anyone come across this problem and shed some light on it

theres no errors as its disable Im going to do some debugging to see if
I can spot anything

Im using ubuntu backup option  !!!

Sorry I should have posted that

http://pastebin.com/XaFbU3kk

Just to give you some more info im using root and (disabled ) guest  and removed any other account
I realize that with a normal  user account it will work

if i copy  .gconf etc etc and others to /etc/skel  will it work on a root account

I do not want any accounts on the distro except root

does remaster-sys support this ?  or is there a work around

There is a newer version of remastersys with some fixes but not for your issue.

Backup mode is what you should be using but I think it will fail to boot since you have no users.  You will have to comment out the section in /usr/bin/remastersys that populates the remastersys.conf file and manually edit /etc/casper.conf.  Put root in for the username and whatever else you want for host but host has to be there or networking will not work.

There is another recent thread where I show exactly what to comment out and how regarding casper.conf.
