Hello, relative n00b here.  I'm trying to install 5.0.3 to a 14GB partition at /dev/sda1 (two other OSes on this box, Lucid and Win7).  The AVLinux LiveDVD runs fine, but the installer hangs on 'copying files to the TARGET system'.  I let it sit there for about an hour, with no spin from the HDD or the optical drive.  Hardware is an Acer 5734z

The .iso hash checks out; I can't get the right md5sum from the disc, but since the LiveDVD works?...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

It is almost certainly a problem with the disk image either the download or the burn. The DVD could run properly and the installer fail if only certain files on the image were corrupted that relate to the installation files. Is booting from a USB key an option?

I would echo what GMaq said.  If your .iso hash checks out then you know your download is good, so a bad image burn is almost certainly the culprit.

Thanks!  I got a good burn, and a clean install.  I am REALLY looking foward to delving into AVLinux; even the liveDVD performed better than my previous Jack setup.  Three cheers!

Note for any reading this thread in the future: ALWAYS BURN SOFTWARE CDS AT A SLOW BURN RATE! Faster burns tend to be less accurate and you need a perfect copy.
