Hello Folks  Smile

Migrated from Ubuntu Studio to AV 2 days ago and joined up here to guide me through a few things, but I seem to be struggling a lot with having my network recognise the AVL box. Ubuntu saw it ok and I have transferred files back & forth without any trouble.. but.. now my Windows network isn't able to see it any more.

I'm not any kind of Linux expert, only having had Ubuntu a short while, but am able to get around without causing much damage.  Roll-Eyes

I have been looking at posts about Samba shares, but none of the standard linux commands seem to have any affect on AV. I do have a feeling that I'm in the right area, because my share to the network print service is also gone. (but it's just a guess and I hope you experts can put me on the right path)

My main system is a Win7 Pro box and the AVL PC has the same IP on the network as before, I also gave it the same name as before. Also I read that I needed to change the workgroup in /etc/samba/smb.conf to my existing. This done.. I restarted both machines, but still cannot see the AVL PC.  Read

I guess I need some help please.. if anyone can point me in right direction, I would be most grateful.

Thanks.
Al.

Apologies if I asked for help in the wrong way, or if my problem wasn't too technical enough. (or even too technical)

Thanks to the folks who were interested enough to read my post, even though no-one had anything to respond with, but I guess I have had to go back to a Windows installation.

Enjoy the music.

Hello !

I have install AV yesterday and  I've got the same problem...

the solution : launch Synaptic, uninstall any smb package except libsmbclient because of all dependencies.
Then clic reload and install smbclient package, samba package, and dependencies.
upgrade libsmbclient and take Gadmin-samba package, it's a simple GUI to configure samba.

Now I can use a windows shared printer, and I can share a partition with windows computers.

PS: for windows printers don't use the printer configuration tool, don't work for me, open UPS web administration interface http://localhost:631

Hello Folks  Smile

Migrated from Ubuntu Studio to AV

I have seen that AVIDEMUX is more faster  on preview video in AV than in U Studio... i'm testing for the best one....

Best regards
