I'm a computer audio noob, I should confess for the record. After searching for countless hours I have not been able to find anyone using the E-MU 1212M PCIe in Linux. The Alsa site appears to indicate that it's untested but casual references in some forums suggest that it may be supported. Will it work or do I need to pay a premium for a used 1212M PCI that I understand does work? It has a better than average DAC so it strikes me as pretty good value. I'm excited about AVLinux and would be very grateful to have a definitive answer to this vexing hardware puzzle.  Smile

Hi,

I'm not 100% sure but it seems to me that some e-mu cards work but require a lot of tweaking and setup in the 'alsamixer' utility. Unfortunately I don't own one to test or give you more specific information...

Hei Jozsef!

I am an (un)lucky guy with an E-mu 1616. It is almost the same as yours.
The cards are good, but E-mu is not very helpfull to the Linux-world but it will work with ALSA.

My card works fine with AVlinux.
As GMaq wrote it is a lot of tweeking with ALSA, but there is hope

I made an libre-office calc-sheet with my settings. As soon as I find out how to post it, I will do.
I think you have a nice start then.

Note: I have not find out everything, but for me this works for the moment.

I greatly appreciate the help. I was unclear in spite of my best intentions, insofar as I know that the PCI version works but it's discontinued. The PCI-E is a mystery but I'm tempted to go for it just to have a warranty and maybe a few more years of use in my next computer. The 1616M has seduced me so I'll have to endure the configuration challenge of E-MU but it's only for 2 channel playback so I should manage.

Is yours PCI-E, soppel? (crosses fingers!) I haven't ruled out buying a used one if PCI is all that will work.

Sorry Jozsef, i was very busy last days.

No I don't have the PCI-e. I have the normal PCI. ( with break-out box)

I will try that I can put the list in PM. If I paste it her it is not in line, so difficult to read.
