For those with issues booting the live iso to the desktop due to the user not being created, please try the new base remastersys_3.0.2-1_all.deb file I just put in http://www.remastersys.com/downloads as it has a fix for it there. Try it out and let me know. There is also a small fix for the gui so you should get those as well as I put the gui fixes up last night.

try running "sudo su" in the terminal before starting "remastersys-gui" and see if that helps. This may be related to your locale settings.

lahirdenganselamat - you've been such a great help that I've made you part of the testing team. This just helps me remember who has contributed.
I'm probably going to setup a special area of the forum only for admins, mods and testing members where we can test things before they get released to everyone else for testing.

I think the remastersys-gtk gui will work better for you right now. I have put it in the http://www.remastersys.com/downloads folder. This is the new gui that was in 3.0.0 and 3.0.1. It seems the new gui in 3.0.2 - remastersys-gui would have to be compiled on each different ubuntu version but I don't have the resources or time to do that right now. I will be including both my new remastersys-gui and the remastersys-gtk in the repository which just needs to be uploaded to the server at the end of the week if I don't need to make any other changes.

the remastersys-gtk works great. They (the remastersys-gtk 3.0.2-1 and remastersys 3.0.2-1) make a great ISO, my new ISO was 3.7 Gb and it works perfect. I successfully install it on my other laptop.

Great news. I'll be uploading the new repo to the server tonight and putting up an announcement.
So in other words, remastersys 3.0.2 will be released tonight.

To me it happens that the ISO (Ubuntu 12.04) created by Remastersys works if it is written on a DVD, but if I create a bootable pendrive, I get immediately at startup, black screen with a line and below:
Boot: _
Thanks for your attention. Greetings Antonio.

What are you using to put it on the pendrive?
What version of remastersys are you using?

That is what I use as well and it has never failed. Have you booted from usb on your PC before? My main desktop has problems with all but 1 of my usb keys but this has to do with the firmware on the usb key and the bios of the motherboard on the PC as it isn't being recognized properly. The usb keys work fine on all other pc's in the house.
If the dvd works then the iso is good. Usb Startup Disk Creator just uses the iso and remastersys created iso's work fine with USB Startup Disk Creator.
Try letting usb startup disk creator format the usb keys for you. The keys should be formatted with the vfat filesystem.

I just want to add something :
I forget the detail here, but sometimes Ubuntu live USB creator fail to make bootable ISO. It finished, but if I boot the live USB, it says something like " not valid com32" (thats not the exact word, I really forget, but it say the 32 part). So I never use Ubuntu live creator again, use unetbootin instead, it just works.

I wonder if the usb startup disk creator issues are locale related as I've never had issues with it and an en locale.

There is some kind of bug after restoring a backup, the file /etc/resolv.conf is now a symlink in 12.04 : `/etc/resolv.conf' -> `../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf' and need to be recreated after the restoration to avoid dns problems. I dont know if you need to symlink only or reinstall resolvconf to the default config : sudo apt-get remove --purge resolvconf && sudo apt-get install resolvconf

That is in part due to dnsmasq I believe. The installer should take care of that for you. I'll look into it to see but I believe removing dnsmasq should fix it so you don't have to do anything.

Hi, being busy lately There is a very small detail, it happens with this new version of Remastersys and the previous too. When creating a Dist, I always change both images with my own, created with Gimp (640x480, PNG). Remastersys says that everything was fine but when I boot the new image with a pen drive, I always get the same black desktop. I have been wondering if I did something wrong with the custom image. Any advice ? Thanks.

Hi,
Just the two images you can customize (splash & grub) in Remastersys's options.
In my case, I just took a nice image and changed the size to 640x480 so it can fit the program's requirements.
Regards.

For the live boot splash you need 640x480 14 colour png file but for grub you should have a 1920x1080 image.
Looking at your image it is probably too complex for the syslinux boot picture.

Thank you. I will change the image and test it again. It would be nice if Remastersys informed the exact specs for the images (ie. says 640x480 png but nothing about de 14 colors, etc).

It is syslinux that has that requirement. With that said I've never encountered any issue with any of the images I've chosen and Ubuntu does tweak syslinux to their own specs but don't specify as far as I have been able to tell.
I'll put something up on my website about it - I'm pretty sure I had it there before but must have removed it for some reason or other.

ok guys, I have been using the 3.0.2-1 32bit to build my distro....there are just a couple things I wanted to point out that are going on.
1. big one is that even though I am making the system in virtualbox with only one eth interface the iso that remastersys makes has several plus a wlan that are all trying to dhcp addresses and it delays the bootup with a message at plymouth stating "waiting for network config"............once I install from the cd I then goto /etc/network/interfaces and comment out anything I am not using and then if boots fine.
2. when I make the iso (dist or backup) there is no link for ubiquity when it boots into the live desktop...the only way I got around this was to make one in backup mode with a link I manually placed on the desktop.
3. when making the dist iso the live user is using the default theme not the one I have setup (I am using the MATE desktop BTW).
Overall its good and getting the job done.....I just wanted to make you guys aware in case I am not the only one.

1 - remastersys doesn't do anything like that. Ubuntu's casper and ubiquity do.
2 - Ubuntu has not included MATE in the OnlyShowIn of the installer launcher .desktop file. - Check the Help area for a sticky post I made about changing the .desktop file fo the frontend to include MATE.
3 - your theme settings must be in the global areas and not your home folder which is why this portion of the config is being omitted - this answer is all over the place in the rmeastersys areas.
For what its worth, all of your questions are already answered here on the forum numerous times. Please take the time to search rather than just posting expecially when ALL of your questions have already been answered.
Lastly, you should upgrade to 3.0.3-1.
