I have been using remastersys for quiet a long time.
But i have noticed that i do not get an install option when i choose Dist Mode (OPTION 2) in any v3.x.x
And i used to get it when i used a 2.x.x version.
(Though I can  use OPTION 1 and tick the option in settings to give me an install option, when I am using that iso for myself only)
But can't really Distribute it. And i use UNetbootin to boot live usb.(the install option there also does not work)

Any solution on this mate...?

If you can post the remastersys.log I can take a look at it and see what is going on.

According to that the gtk frontend is being installed.  What desktop are you using?  Did you check the System menu to see if it was there?

While you are at it, check my thread about the new 3.0.2 version as I just uploaded a new base package to fix the live username issue.  I know you are using 3.0.2 already but I just uploaded the new one a couple of hours ago.

Though it said ubiquity-frontend-gtk installed it wasnt.
I installed it again in live session and typed the command

sudo ubiquity --desktop %k gtk_ui

which did the trick.
(Searched a lot of forums quite a few had this problem and someone had this as the solution and it worked for me too..)

Did you have internet access when you remastered?  You need to have access to be able to download and install it.

I would like to switch to RHEL based linux like Centos or Scientific Linux but the lack of an easy way to make a live from your install keeps me with Ubuntu and Debian.  I've looked into the way Redhat/Fedora do the live and it basically requires completely copying the system increasing disk space needs to more than double what is needed on Ubuntu/Debian.

I run debian on my home server and Ubuntu on all the laptop/desktop PC's.

I too thought of using arch for the package manager it has.
And debian's pkg manager is ok, but the stability is excellent and it supports more architectures than other distros and now i like unity more than gnome3 so no option but to stay here. Yes CentOS is good too..

If I get enough time and ambition I will look at seeing what I can do with the RHEL live stuff.  I looked at it before but didn't have enough time.  I could create a version of remastersys that should work with it but the extra space needed kind of deterred me.

I'm not big on arch linux though I did create a cli pacman frontend that made it easier to install packages - a long time ago - lol.
