Upgraded Handbrake to 0.9.6 and now it will not launch.
This is on 5.0 AVLinux.

Hi,

Well to be honest I built that package on 5.0.3 and I don't have the time or hard drive space to run and test more than the last release and the upcoming development version for the next release. Do you have the Squeeze backports repositories enabled? My guess would be that your versions of ffmpeg and the libav related stuff may be incompatible with this version of handbrake built against the newer backport ones.

I f you run 'ghb' in a terminal what is the output?

Truthfully there is VERY little difference between handbrake 0.9.5 and 0.9.6 and 0.9.5 saw a huge amount of improvements over it's previous version. I would caution you that if you have a 5.0 install that's happy I wouldn't make any major changes for such a minor program update, the quality of output between the 2 versions is negligible.

Nothing happens when run ghb in terminal.
Squeeze backports are enabled.
Let me tinker around with it and will report back later.
Thanks GMaq

Hi,

Had another look on a different system and you're right something is amiss. I'll have a look and for now I'll pull that package until I figure it out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I looked at the installed packages and the dependencies for the updated Handbrake and none of the dependencies were/are installed.
I just downgraded Handbrake.
No big deal.
Thanks

OK,

With Debian Squeeze getting a bit of age on it now a lot of these packages require pushing the envelope a bit to make them drop-in replacements for the existing Squeeze packages. I am on the home stretch of developing AV Linux 6.0 which will hopefully be finished by the end of June. I'll do my best to have some of these troublesome packages up and running with it although I can't promise that I can also provide packages that will work with 5.X.X especially after version 6.0 is released.
