Yes I went and got myself a fretlight Guitar and its a nice guitar only problem linux dosent see it .
Their web site says it works, well really it says Guitar pro6 Works in Linux and it does I just assumed
that being that it's on the fretlight web site that it all worked together.! It doesn't say the fretlight guitar
doesn't work in linux. Hmm I feel riped

Can anyone tell me how to get it working ? Does it need some firmware ? an ALSA driver?
I did set up a udev rule but that didn't work.

it shows up in dmesg as
usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0925, idProduct=2000

I don't have a Fretlight guitar but can make some general comments.  The system sees your device which is good.   I suspect that you have to interact with the Fretlight guitar by using the special version of GuitarPro6 which works with the Fretlight.  Have you tried that?   I did try the trial version of GuitarPro6.   I first had to install libportaudio0 with synaptic.   I then installed GuitarPro6 which I discovered had to be started by running /opt/GuitarPro6/launcher.sh in a command line.   However, the problem with GuitarPro6 is that it only supports Pulse Audio
and therefore will never work in AVLinux 5.0.3.   You'll have to use some PulseAudio-enabled linux like Ubuntu, which is all GuitarPro claims to support, anyway.    Actually, I had tried and encountered this problem with an earlier version of GP, and sent them an email suggesting they add Jack or just Alsa support, but obviously they have not.   There are a couple commercial musics apps (Harmony Assistant is another) which sadly think supporting linux means using Pulse Audio only which does not work on AVLinux.    As far as I know there is no way to get Pulse Audio output to work on AVLinux short of installing the full PulseAudio package which will likely lead to many other problems (which is why PulseAudio is not used in the first place).

As far as Guitar Pro 6 it does work in AVlinux.  I use it all the time.  it uses the default sound device only . And I have Tried Guitar Pro 6 fretlight that is the current version. there my be issues with the demo version but the full version works fine on AVLinux 5.0.3 .
the problem is the fretllight guitar says not connected.  I have  talked to Optek about it there thinking about giving me info
on the firmware and drivers issues in linux .Maybe something can be done in the future. it's to there benefit.

The din output is probably the issue. If the usb on the other end of that din cable
is translated to something linux understands, the command arecord -l
should show it within the brackets of the command output,
which would go in the Input Device field in qjackctl setup page,
without the brackets.

The guitar gets a nice review at

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/fretlight_guitar/fg-421/index.html?no_takeover

so using the guitar with a usb interface or preamp should be a pleasure

Joe K:  Its good to hear that GuitarPro works in AVLinux.  The trial version seems to work, but I get no sound from it.  I tried loading various examples and playing them, but get no sound.  I do get a message that the trial version has a limited number soundbanks.  Do have to change some configuration to make the sound work?   The only sound-related configuration I found was Sound->Audio Settings->Soundcard which only has Pulse audio listed.   Since it only listed Pulse Audio, I assumed it would not work in AVLinux.   How do get it to use the default audio device?  Thanks.

I think the issue is Pulse Audio I dont use it if your using AVlinux 5.0.3 try uninstalling it . then run wincfg see if your sound
cards show up in the widows sound setup. Then run alsamixer from a terminal see if your sound is off or real low .
Try That.

Unfortunately Guitar Pro 6 has been updated and only works with pulseaudio  , What a mistake they should have used the Gstreamer Kit
could have gotten it to working with jack server .  I am really @#$$#@$$$$#@#@#  Oh and the fret light guitar doesn’t work in Linux.
