I installed the latest beta (4a_12406) in "Tube", but I can't make it run. The installer made a menu entry and icon but A3 just won't start. The A2 is running fine.

??

Hi,

Does 'won't run' mean nothing happens at all or that you get a splash screen and can set up your session and then it dies?

It dies very fast. it never gets into session dialog or anything. I did run top at the same time and it shows that A3 only lives a few seconds. Some of the earlier betas did run, but there was some performance issues.

Hmmm,

I'll be honest I haven't been running the bundles I've been building test packages from SVN which are working fine, however I have noted that over the last 6 months of Ardour3 development that certain plugins present on the system can cause trouble with A3 being able to launch.

Some things to try...

1. You installed the Ardour bundle as Root correct?

2. Remove the 'discodsp-linuxvst-demo' package

3. Update the following plugins packages to these versions:

http://bandshed.net/custom/linuxvst-plugin-pack_20120229+a3beta-avlinux-1_i386.deb
http://bandshed.net/custom/linuxdsp-lv2-demos_20120229avlinux-1_i386.deb
http://bandshed.net/custom/linuxdsp-linuxvst-demos_20120229avlinux-1_i386.deb
http://bandshed.net/custom/linuxdsp-jack-demos_20120229avlinux-1_i386.deb
http://bandshed.net/custom/linuxdsp-guitarfx-demos_20120229avlinux-1_i386.deb

Let me know if there is any change...If not I'll install a bundle and have a look when I get time
