It is original Debian Wheezy from debian.org server. Sources.list is default, i only add opera browser repo.

Yes, it only opera.
I do it manually (adding repo to sources.list and install opera via terminal) and can see, which packages installed.
I will test backup mode, just to check.

I hate to do this as my first post, but I get the same thing in dist mode, backup mode works great. Dist mode has no user account.
I want to hand it to you, this version of remastersys is amazing, not using ubiquity is a fantastic thing. Thank you so much

Can you post your remastersys.log from the system you created it on as well as the /var/log/remastersys-installer.log from the installed system. Even if it has no users you should be able to login as root - CTRL-ALT-F1 and then login in as root. If this doesn't work, use the live system to get the files for me as well as the /etc/passwd file and /etc/group file from the installed system.

fragadelic, i'd love to test this out for you, but I haven't been able to find the download. I'm popping out a release every day, with a few builds per day, so I should have plenty of opportunity.
At the moment I'm looking for a backup option for wheezy, not the distribution options.

fragadelic, i'd love to test this out for you, but I haven't been able to find the download. I'm popping out a release every day, with a few builds per day, so I should have plenty of opportunity.
At the moment I'm looking for a backup option for wheezy, not the distribution options.

It looks like you have more in /etc/skel than should be there. replace "username" with your username you copied the stuff into /etc/skel from in the following command and post the results on the original system you remastered from: as root: grep -R "username" /etc/skel |

Maby the ui distskel mode is the same way, is there a way I can do it in terminal to check. I know there is a manual way, but I was wondering if there was a script I could run to test it. OK, used it last night to build an ISO.
The installer is not setting the username/password during installation. Because the backup skips that part anyway, it's not a problem when using it for a backup install.
A backup then install from the created iso worked without a hitch.

Anyone having the issue with creating users from dits mode, can you please try the following commands on your ORIGINAL install and post everything from the terminal window.
In a terminal window as root:
. /etc/remastersys/remastersys-installer.conf
cat /etc/group
cat/etc/passwd
groupadd -g 2000 testuser
useradd -u 2000 -g 2000 -c "Test User,,," -G $DEFAULTGROUPS -s /bin/bash -m testuser
echo -e "testuser\ntestuser\n" | passwd testuser
cat /etc/group
cat /etc/passwd
This will create a user on your system called "testuser" with the password "testuser" that you can then delete later. These are the commands that the install uses to create the user from live install.

You have an old version of remastersys that had that bug - go to the first post in this thread and download the remastersys package again. |

Edit /etc/remastersys/remastersys-installer.conf and remove powerdev. Try a new remaster or just edit the file in live and try to install.

Few more bugs
Does not update-grub
When I did update-grub it gave me 6 entries on the grub menu of the same thing
The desktop installer icon is not trusted
I installed the most current version and still have to run dist mode in terminal no GUI version love- wont do it

The desktop installer icon is not trusted
Have the same bug, but this is not so critical.

I've never used remastersys before now. I have no problems creating the iso. However, once I boot from the created iso, I cannot log in. I've tried usernames root, darrel, live and testuser. root and darrel each have an 8 character alphanumeric password. What username should I be using in the live CD session? What I'm remastering is a Wheezy e17 install in VirtualBox. When I extract the squash filesystem from the created iso and unsquash it, I don't see a home folder at all. Is that normal?
In addition, after I've run the remastersys dist from the yad GUI, the VirtualBox guest I'm remastering has suddenly changed. Time seems to revert to UTC instead of local. It's off by five hours, and I'm in US Central timezone. The mouse pointer integration between the host and the guest is suddenly lost. That's not critical. The critical problem is that the shared folder between the guest and the host is no longer synchronized. The best way I can describe it is that viewing the host's folder from the guest doesn't show any contents whatsoever. If I copy something from the guest to the shared folder, it shows as copied from the guest side. If I look at the contents of the shared folder from the host, the files the guest supposedly copied don't exist. They do on the guest side, but not on the host side. I've yet to figure out "where they're going". This happens every time I run remastersys on the guest.
If I reinstall VirtualBox guest additions on the guest side, from the VirtualBox menu (Devices > Install Guest Additions), then reboot the guest, the time, mouse pointer integration and shared folder contents are all returned to a normal, functioning state. I've never seen behavior like this from VirtualBox, and am at a loss to discover what is causing it.
The latest remastersys.log is attached, along with the groups and passwd lists. This was run from yesterday's version of remastersys.
