hi guys sorry to report there seems to be a problem with python 2.6 / python2.6-minimal, when I install on a compaq evo n1020v i get the follow
**this is after totally fresh install and first time online* - well it was originally

root@audioprocessor:/home/Downloads/idjc-0.8.2# apt-get install idjc
dpkg: warning: files list file for package `python-pkg-resources' missing, assuming package has no files currently npacking python2.6-minimal (from .../python2.6-minimal_2.6.5-1_i386.deb) ...
new installation of python2.6-minimal; /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages is a directory
which is expected a symlink to /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages.
please find the package shipping files in /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages and
file a bug report to ship these in /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages instead
aborting installation of python2.6-minimal
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/python2.6-minimal_2.6.5-1_i386.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Selecting previously deselected package python2.6.
Unpacking python2.6 (from .../python2.6_2.6.5-1_i386.deb) ...
Selecting previously deselected package idjc.
Unpacking idjc (from .../archives/idjc_0.8.2-2_i386.deb) ...

strangely i install earlier on another system and installed idjc fine

all i hope is some how my installation went wrong .. why will remain a mystery

Hi,

I believe there was a recent idjc update either yesterday or today, for the record when things like this happen if they are Debian Packages (ie they don't have X.X.XXavlinux in the package name) the most effective thing to do is use the "Reportbug" utility in either the preferences or system tools menu and report the bug to Debian since they are the maintainers of the packages and therefore the ones who need to know they are broken. Many times these things clear themselves up in  day or two but reporting to Debian will ensure it gets done quicker.

Just say you are using Debian Squeeze because that's what AV Linux is built with and they probably don't have a clue what AV Linux is and the issue you have isn't related to AV Linux customizations anyway.

ironically #debian people are totally insistent that its not up to them to support the problem and it must lie with the distributor lol

if this is still broken and you're looking for a quick fix band aid solution to get youre fantastic stuffcast/icecast stream working via  jack you can either build ices2 or oddcastv3 from source they both support jack and are stable, ices2-kh == guaranteed stable.

Hmmm,

Well it's too bad that #debian is behaving that way, but AV Linux is Debian Squeeze with major tweakage for Audio and without Debian's kernel, Although earlier versions of AV Linux had much more custom packages, You have to remember that generally speaking large distros at the administration level aren't very keen on spin-offs even though the end-users are better served by them especially in niche applications like Audio/Video. I have nothing at all to do with python packaging or anything like that, if the package doesn't say "avlinux" I didn't build it and don't maintain it.

yeah they always behave like a bunch of superiorists, that is kinda Debains MO which works good when youre coding not when your interacting with humans, ha... their loss any way heh.. the problem was more specific to them
any way I dumped Idjc.. with a dear jon letter

Dear idjc

youre a great streaming app, but now I have used oddcastv3 for a production purpose I decided that our relations must end, idjc youre just to overweight, to prone idosincratic problems, and youre love of big snakes cant ever work in our relation ship, and your sleeping habbit are just generally to much of a long thing when you crash out at 3:00 in the morning and make me drive miles to come put you back up, and as you are not so easy to start up remotely this burden is just too much, and I met oddcastv3 + jack support built in pure C/C++ which is way more elegant for my life style.
we had many sucessfull and good times but now we must close this chapter of our lives

Love damnit321
